Automotive feature that makes a tire resistant to flats. It would be capable of automatically self-sealing a puncture from a screw, nail, or some other sharp object to prevent air from escaping in the event of a tread puncture. This would help maintain a high level of travel safety for motorists and avoid the frustrating delays associated with flat tires along roadsides.

Inventor Inspiration

“I thought there should be a way to immediately seal a hole if a tire is punctured while driving, so I invented this. My design eliminates the time, hassle, and expense of stopping to change flat tires.”

Features

  • The complete product would generally resemble a typical motor vehicle tire with a standard outer tread of rugged rubber
  • Beneath the tread would be a conventional belting carcass for strength and reliability, followed by an inner liner
  • Integrated into the left and right sidewalls would also be conventional hidden wire beads to maintain strength at the rim contact surfaces
  • Unlike a typical tire, this model would feature an additional multi-layer surface at the inner liner, including the sidewalls
  • It would be a layer of tire cushion gum, followed by liquid adhesive as an internal component, with a butylene rubber layer against the pressurized air of the inner tire
  • In the event the car or truck tire gets punctured by a nail, this hidden inner feature would automatically take over
  • The adhesive between the rubber and cushion gum would fill and seal the puncture to prevent air loss
